Pre-Surgery Instructions: Medication
Check with your
doctor regarding the medications you are taking at the time of
your surgery. Your may take your blood pressure medications, heart
medications, seizure medications and any breathing medications the
morning of your surgery. You may have only enough water to swallow
the medications. Patients with diabetes need to check with the
pre-admission nurse prior to the surgery date for any special
instructions regarding your medications. Most patients are told
not to take their insulin the morning of surgery. Patients who
take oral diabetic medications should not take their medications.
